Under the supervision of the Board of Mayor and Aldermen, the City Recorder serves as the central administrative officer overseeing daily city government operations. Key responsibilities include preparing the annual budget, managing financial operations such as tax collection and bank reconciliations, and serving as treasurer, disbursing funds upon board authorization.

Judges issue felony arrest warrants, setting bond, conducting initial appearances, and handling domestic violence injunctions and focus on municipal code violations, imposing fines, and issuing summonses. Administratively, all municipal judges must administer oaths, maintain confidentiality, and ensure fines are correctly recorded and paid to the city treasury. 

The city attorney serves as the chief legal counsel for the Town of Burns, primarily responsible for representing and defending the city in all litigation where the city is a party. Their core duties include prosecuting cases in city court, attending city council meetings, and advising the council, mayor, city manager, and department heads on legal matters affecting municipal interests.

The police chief oversees the police officers for the Town of Burns and cooperates with other municipalities. The mission is to keep the peace, protect the lives and property of Burns citizens, serve the public, and enforce state laws and city ordinances.

The fire chief oversees the Burns Fire Department which operates 24/7, 365 days a year. It is a fulltime department made up of paid personnel and volunteers including a working chief five days a week, three captains rotating 24- hour shifts, six relief PRNs and 11 volunteers. The building inspectors are responsible for technical work in the enforcement of building, zoning, and safety codes to ensure structures are safe for occupancy. Their primary duties include conducting on-site inspections of residential, commercial, and industrial buildings during construction, renovation, or alteration phases to verify compliance with approved plans and the International Building Code or Southern Building Code.

The Parks and Recreation Director centers on the strategic planning, financial management, and operational oversight of the Burns park systems. Key responsibilities include managing departmental budgets, supervising staff, and coordinating recreational programs for diverse community segments.
