Burns Fire Department operates 24/7, 365 days a year. We are a full-time department made up of paid personnel and volunteers, including a working chief five days a week, three captains rotating 24- hour shifts, six relief PRNs, and 11 volunteers. Proudly serving the citizens of Burns and our community for over forty years.
Burn restrictions:
If you live inside the town, you must obtain a free burn permit. Call 615-446-7911
If you live outside the city limits, you must obtain a free burn permit from October 15 through May 15, call 1-877-350-2876 or go to www.burnsafetn.org
Rural Fire Serivce:
A rural fire service program is offered by our fire department. If your home is located within 5 miles of the Burns Fire Department, you are eligible to subscribe annually to receive fire protection from the Burns Fire Department. If you have any questions about the program, please do not hesitate to call us at (615) 446 - 7911. To subscribe to this service, please contact the Town of Burns at (615) 446 - 2851.
Rural Fire Service Program :
- Available to homeowners within a 7 mile driving radius of the fire station (2717 Church Street)
- Annual fee: 0.1% of home appraisal value ($150 minimum annual cost)
- Benefits: City fire service coverage, public service assistance, potential insurance savings

BURNS ISO RATE IS - 05/5X
ISO - Insurance Service Office - that provides statistical information on risk. For many years the "ISO Rating" had a large impact on most fire departments. The ISO (PPC) rating is from 10 to 1. With "1" being the best.
